Coaches and Volunteers
Head Coach: Alicia Lynnes
With us from the beginning, Alicia was hired in 2003 to create the non-profit organization and start the swim club. She is a certified NCCP level 1 coach and has been the Calgary Dolphins Head Coach since 2004.

Alicia competed in Modern Pentathlon/ Tetrathlon and was on the National Pentathlon Team. She has also coached the Modern Pentathlon Provincial team: swimming portion for three years and was the provincial coach for one year.

Currently working on her Masters of Science degree, Alicia graduated from the University of Calgary in 2005 with a Bachelors of Kinesiology.
Learn to Swim Head Coach: Sallie Szanik
Fully certified NCCP level 2 swim coach: Level 3 Technical and Theory.

During her 18 years of coaching, Sallie attended many Regional, Provincial and National games as a swim coach with Special Olympics. She was the aquatics Head Coach for Team Canada attending the Special Olympics World games in Dublin Ireland in 2003 and was the BC coach for the Canada games in 2001 and 2005 for Special Olympics.

Sallie recently moved to Calgary from BC. She coaches with the Special Olympics Advanced Swim and this will be her first year with the Dolphins. Sallie believes in teaching strong technical skills and having lots of fun. She also has a son with Down's syndrome.
Assistant Coaches:
   Ian Higginbottom
This is Ian's second year volunteering with the Calgary Dolphins Swim Club

He is finishing his degree degree in Biology at the University of Calgary. Following his BSc he will be completing his education degree at the University of British Columbia with aspirations to teach high school science.
